オーロラ織部は、普通に焼いて緑色にしか焼けないはずの織部の焼き方に変化を与えることで、まるで七色に煌めくオーロラが浮かび上がる小川先生のオリジナル作品です。
Aurora Oribe is an original creation by Ogawa, achieved by altering the standard Oribe firing technique—which typically produces only a green glaze—to evoke the appearance of a shimmering, multicolored aurora emerging on the surface.
オーロラは、通常の織部とは異なり、還元焼成と長時間の焼き入れにより偶然に現れ、本作品は、とても織部とは思えないほど、真っ白に焼けてしまった表層に、トルコブルーが発色し、また、その裏側の深いグリーンは本作品が織部であることを思い出させます。
Unlike ordinary Oribe ware, Aurora appears by chance through a unique process of reduction firing and long firing duration. In this piece, the surface has turned an unexpectedly pure white, accented by a striking turquoise blue, while the deep green on the reverse side reminds us that it is indeed an Oribe work.
