Oribe Hollowed Guinomi by Osamu Taniguchi

本作品は、轆轤を用いず、土の塊をくり抜きながら形を生み出す独自の技法によって造形されています。艶やかな暗緑色の釉調が美しく、土味を感じさせる豊かな質感と、箆で丹念に削り出された端正な造形が見事に調和した作品です。
This exceptional Oribe guinomi was created using Taniguchi’s distinctive hollowing technique, in which the form is carved directly from a solid block of clay without the use of a potter’s wheel. The lustrous deep green glaze beautifully complements the rich, earthy texture of the clay, while the carefully carved and refined form created with a hera (bamboo trimming tool) reveals a remarkable harmony between strength and elegance.

谷口先生は志野の名手として広く知られていますが、近年は織部の制作にも精力的に取り組まれており、その表現はますます深みを増しています。一切の妥協を許さず制作された、渾身の逸品です。
Although Taniguchi is best known for his exceptional Shino ware, in recent years he has devoted increasing attention to Oribe, bringing ever greater depth and sophistication to his work. Created without the slightest compromise, this is a masterpiece that fully embodies the artist's dedication and craftsmanship.
