關 共歩　鼠志野 ぐい呑⑤　Kyoho Seki, Nezumi shino sake cup #5

關 共歩作陶、鼠志野ぐい吞、箱付きです。いびつに回転する自作の手回し轆轤を使い、あえていびつに成形されています。柚子肌に鼠色と緋色がバランス良く混ざり合い、ピンクの赤色が景色にアクセントを与えています。やや背の高い円柱形も特徴です。本作品は2024年5月に窯から出されたばかりの新作で、關さんが、初めて箱書きされた作品でもあります。

Nezumi Shino guinomi (sake cup) with box made by Kyoho Seki. The piece is deliberately shaped irregularly using a handmade, manually-operated potter's wheel that wobbles intentionally during rotation. The surface, with its yuzu-skin, features a harmonious blend of gray and scarlet tones, with accents of pinkish-red adding character to the scenery. A slightly tall cylindrical shape is also a notable characteristic. This piece, completed in May 2024, is a brand-new creation fresh from the kiln and also marks the first work for which Seki has personally inscribed the box, making it his debut piece with such a distinction.

關さんは2018年に独立して多治見市に工房をかまえられ、2024年には、陶芸作家の登竜門と言われる現代茶陶展に初入選を果たすなど、これから益々の活躍が期待される作家さんです。自ら採取した土を使い、いびつに回転する自作の手回し轆轤を用いてオリジナリティーの高い作品を造られ、年に2，3回しか窯焼きをされないため、世に出る作品はそれほど沢山ありません。

Seki established his own studio in Tajimi City in 2018 after becoming independent, and in 2024, he achieved his first selection for the Contemporary Tea Ceramics Exhibition, known as a gateway to success for ceramic artists. He is a promising artist with a bright future ahead. Using clay he gathers himself and his handmade manually-operated potter's wheel, which intentionally rotates irregularly, he creates highly original works. Since he fires his kiln only two or three times a year, the number of pieces released to the public is relatively limited.
